👋 This article covers how using Google Analytics will give you simple visibility into views, engagement, and completion behaviour using tools you may already have.

Why use Google Analytics with Courso?

Courso focuses on helping you create and refine great learning. For teams that want deeper visibility into how content is being used once shared, Google Analytics is a powerful option.

By connecting Google Analytics, you can:

  • See how many people view your course

  • Understand when learners return

  • Measure engagement over time

  • Combine Courso data with other analytics you already track

Courso does not replace Google Analytics. Instead, it gives you a simple way to connect it.

What you need before you start

To use Google Analytics with Courso, you will need:

  • A Google Analytics account

  • A Measurement ID (for example: G-XXXXXXXXXX) (also known as a Tracking Key)

  • Edit access to the course in Courso

If you already use Google Analytics on your website, you should use a new property although you can reuse the same property.

How to connect Google Analytics to a course

  1. Go to workspace, and select the learning you wish to add a Measurement ID

  2. Go to the Course details tab

  3. Paste your Google Analytics Measurement ID into the Google Analytics field

  4. Save your changes

That’s it. Once the course is viewed, data will begin flowing into your Google Analytics account.

There is no additional configuration required in Courso.

What data is tracked

When Google Analytics is connected, standard page and engagement data is sent as learners interact with your course.

This typically includes:

  • Course views

  • Session activity

  • Navigation between sections

  • Time spent in the course

Exact reports and terminology depend on how your Google Analytics property is set up.

What Courso does not do

To keep things simple and privacy-safe:

  • Courso does not configure Google Analytics for you

  • Courso does not expose Google Analytics dashboards inside the product

  • Courso does not collect personal learner identities for analytics

When should I use this?

Using Google Analytics is most helpful when:

  • You already use GA elsewhere

  • You want insights on views

If you are focused on improving content quality and alignment, Courso’s Reviews and comments will often be the fastest way to understand what needs to change.

Summary

Google Analytics is optional, powerful, and entirely yours.

Courso makes it easy to connect by letting you paste your Measurement ID at the course level, while keeping the core creation and review experience simple.
